The watch is is in good vintage condition, although the very faint serial number on the case back has worn off. The crow is a correct-sized replacement crown.

Crystal:
The acrylic crystal is in excellent condition.

Dial:
The dial is in good vintage condition with attractive patina. There is a light scratch above the signature between 12 and 1 o'clock.

Movement:
The fully-serviced automatic-winding calibre by Universal Geneve is in excellent condition.

Bracelet:
Brown suede leather strap with steel buckle.

Returns must be shipped via overnight or priority international service, fully insured, and at the buyer’s expense. A label will be provided and a restocking fee may apply. All returns must be received in the original condition as when shipped.

The Universal Genève Polerouter sits at a particularly interesting moment in post-war watchmaking. Introduced in 1954 and designed by a young Gérald Genta, it was conceived for the emerging age of polar aviation, where reliability in extreme conditions mattered as much as elegance. Within a few years, the line evolved rapidly, not only in form but in mechanics, with the introduction of the micro-rotor caliber 215, one of the earliest of its kind and a defining technical achievement of the decade.

The Polerouter Jet, introduced in 1956, reflects this shift toward a more streamlined, modern sensibility. It was conceived during the early jet age, and the name is not accidental. The design leans into that optimism. Compared to the original Polerouter, the Jet variant pares things down, trading some of the earlier model’s decorative cues for a slimmer, more aerodynamic profile. The reference 20355, with a calibre 215-97 movement, was produced from 1957 to 1960, and captures a moment when Universal was refining both the visual language and the engineering of the line.

This example stays true to that intent. The stainless steel case is notably thin, with elongated straight lugs that stretch outward rather than downward, giving the watch a broader presence on the wrist. The silver dial is restrained and balanced, with applied markers and dauphine hands that catch the light without overwhelming the surface. The Jet variants often dispenses with excess texture, and in so doing achieves quiet precision that reads as distinctly mid-century. The micro-rotor movement allows the case to remain slim, which sharpens overall proportions.
