Case:
This example features symmetrical lugs and is in superb vintage condition. It has been expertly cleaned by one of our technicians, and was not polished by us, but may have been very lightly polished in the past. There are some light hairline scratches, and normal-to-light wear distributed evenly throughout the case, but the watch remains extremely crisp and sharp.

Dial:
The dial is in superb original condition with a few marks and light patination from age distributed evenly throughout the dial.

Movement:
The fully-serviced manual wind calibre by Jaeger-LeCoultre is in excellent condition.

Bracelet:
This watch comes on a 18mm black leather strap with a gold plated buckle.

By the early 1950s, Jaeger-LeCoultre was navigating an unusual moment in its own history. This example belongs to that postwar generation of time only references where case design carried as much visual weight as the dial itself. The 18k yellow gold case departs from restrained geometries and instead embraces the sculptural possibilities of the wristwatch as jewelry. The extended, swooping 'twisted' or 'fancy' lugs recall the so called ribbon or teardrop forms seen across the manufacture’s dress references of the decade, lending an otherwise robust mid century profile and a surprising amount of presence on the wrist. These more elaborate lug constructions appear across several Jaeger-LeCoultre references from the period and reflect a broader shift in watchmaking away from purely functional wartime austerity toward softer, more decorative silhouettes.
