Timepieces are packed in our Los Angeles showroom, and then shipped with fully-insured 1 or 2-Day shipping via FedEx within 5 business days of purchase. An adult signature is required upon delivery to ensure coverage. Expedited shipping options are available for an additional fee. For clients in Los Angeles, we’re pleased to offer in-person delivery or showroom pickup by appointment.

Returns must be shipped via overnight or priority international service, fully insured, and at the buyer’s expense. A label will be provided and a restocking fee may apply. All returns must be received in the original condition as when shipped.

By the late 1930s, Omega had already established itself as one of Switzerland’s most important manufacturers of precise, dependable wristwatches. The decade also marked a transitional moment in watch design, as the decorative language of the Art Deco period gradually gave way to the clean, functional forms that would define military and civilian watches of the 1940s. This Omega, dating to 1939, sits neatly at that intersection.

Housed in a 30.5mm stainless steel case, the watch follows what collectors today often refer to as the “Calatrava” form: a restrained round case, slim bezel and gently curved lugs, with virtually nothing added that does not serve a purpose.

The silver dial is particularly evocative with alternating luminous Arabic numerals and bar hour markers. The result is a highly legible layout. The original dial has developed an even degree of patina over more than eight decades, softening the silver surface and giving the watch the kind of texture that can only come with age. Rather than feeling overly formal, the combination of steel case, luminous furniture and straightforward typography gives the watch an appealing military-adjacent aesthetic typical of the years immediately preceding the Second World War.

Inside is Omega’s manually wound calibre 26,5, a 15-jewel movement belonging to an important family of compact hand-wound calibres produced by the manufacture during this period. The movement has been fully serviced and remains in excellent mechanical condition.

More than simply an early Omega, this is a compelling snapshot of wristwatch design on the eve of the 1940s: compact, practical and quietly elegant. Its appeal lies precisely in that restraint.
