Every GAUTHIER timepiece comes with a one-year mechanical warranty starting from the date of delivery. We ensure all watches are in excellent working condition and are ready for daily wear. They have been fully serviced by our team of expert watchmakers or inspected for recent skilled service.

We offer complimentary insured shipping within all 50 U.S. states on every watch purchase.

Timepieces are packed in our Los Angeles showroom, and then shipped with fully-insured 1 or 2-Day shipping via FedEx within 5 business days of purchase. An adult signature is required upon delivery to ensure coverage. Expedited shipping options are available for an additional fee. For clients in Los Angeles, we’re pleased to offer in-person delivery or showroom pickup by appointment.

Returns must be shipped via overnight or priority international service, fully insured, and at the buyer’s expense. A label will be provided and a restocking fee may apply. All returns must be received in the original condition as when shipped.

Founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1881, Movado established itself through a thoughtful combination of mechanical ingenuity and distinctive design. From the unconventional, three-plane Polyplan movement to the ingenious Ermeto, its early history reveals a maker willing to approach familiar problems differently. The appeal of its vintage watches often lies in precisely this balance between elegance and invention.

This 1930s example rewards a closer look, particularly for its early center sweep-seconds display. Today, a centrally mounted running seconds hand is easily taken for granted. During this period, however, it was a configuration of genuine technical interest, found in Movado’s production as well as unusual versions of Patek Philippe’s reference 96, which employed specially adapted movements to achieve the display. Bringing the seconds to the center also changes the character of a watch: rather than confining motion to a small subsidiary register, it allows the passage of time to animate the entire dial.

The original silver dial has mellowed to a warm, creamy tone, providing an attractive setting for its gold-toned Breguet-style numerals. Their curling forms are evocative of the Breguet-numeral variations of Patek Philippe’s reference 96, sharing that particularly appealing contrast between expressive typography and an otherwise restrained composition. Here, all twelve numerals remain uninterrupted, framed by a finely divided outer track. Slender, pointed hour and minute hands preserve the lightness of the design, while the seconds hand’s red arrow tip introduces a small, unexpected accent of color.

The 14K yellow gold-filled case measures 29mm across, with a 36mm lug-to-lug length and an 8mm thickness. Its narrow bezel and tapered lugs give the dial room to breathe, creating an elegant silhouette whose appeal rests on proportion rather than size. The warmth of the case complements the dial’s patination, while visible surface wear lends the watch an appropriately lived-in character.

Powered by a fully serviced, 15-jewel manual-winding Movado movement, the watch is paired with a brown Gauthier leather strap handmade in Italy.
